I hope many of you enjoyed the great eclipse yesterday.
Until a few weeks ago, we had been planning to travel to the totality zone. But over the last few weeks, it became clear that the trip would be too hard for Penny.
Instead we spent the day in Grand Rapids. After a visit from the visiting nurse around noon, we got ready to head to Blodgett Hospital to deal with a clogged GJ tube. We were scheduled for arrival at 2:00, procedure sometime after 2:30 -- right during the eclipse.
But things were behind schedule, so we asked if we could go outside for a bit while we waited. We joined medical personnel and other patients in a little courtyard to watch the peak eclipse before heading back in to get a new GJ tube. Not the way we imagined the day would go, but another little adventure.
I gather from one of the nurses that these clogs just happen from time to time, and most often the solution is to replace the tube. We chatted a bit about preventative measures, but it sounds like we had pretty much been doing what they recommend.
The new tube is working as it should, and we're hoping it will continue to do so for a while.

Alisa Tigchelaar: I'm so glad to hear that you got to enjoy some of the eclipse, Randy and Penny. And that Penny's GJ tube situation has been fixed. Praying with you that this solution holds, and for all the other things that you've brought forward recently. Thank you also for sharing those lovely pictures. Much love. π
