Looks like discharge will be tomorrow or Tuesday.
This morning’s CT scan showed that the stomach and first part of the small intestines were distended. The working theory is that peristalsis isn’t working well at the start of the digestive tract. This leads to pain and nausea when Penny tries to eat and drink and has resulted in the ups and downs the last couple days.
Fortunately, the feeding tube seems to be working well. So the plan is to resume tube feeding tomorrow but hold off on oral intake for a few days to let everything settle down, and then introduce food very slowly after that.
If things go smoothly tonight and tomorrow morning, Penny will be discharged as soon as we can schedule the home care visit, likely tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday morning.
