We are back in the ER with the now familiar symptoms of a bowel obstruction. The symptoms began yesterday evening. At her check-in today, she received some fluids, but things continued to get worse the rest of the afternoon.
Looks like a busy night here, so we may be waiting awhile. The least pleasant part of this is the time spent in the ER waiting area.
Fortunatley during the last hospitalization Penny was prescribed a liquid pain med that absorbs under the tongue and acts fairly quickly. She took that before heading to the ER. We’re hoping it lasts until she can get something here. (Note to self: put the meds in the to go bag next time.)
Shortly after my post we moved out of the waiting area into an ER room. Should have her port accessed “soon”, then iv meds and fluids can begin. “Soon” is not a precise unit of time in the ER. We’re hoping it resembles what we usually think of as soon. (Last time soon ended up being over 2 hours.)
The good news is that although the ER is busy, it is quiet. So it doesn’t seem like there is any acute trauma at the moment. (Last time there was a car accident, and several injured people came in multiple ambulances.)
