It’s been a bit since I last posted. That’s mainly because no day in the last couple weeks has had a particularly dramatic moment. It’s also difficult to see and describe a clear trend. But looking back, it does seem that things are a bit better now than they were two weeks ago. And things are much better than they were in August.
Here are a few of the small indicators from the last couple weeks.
• Yesterday Penny went to our basement and noticed that it was quite a bit easier to climb the stairs than it had been as recently as a week or two ago.
• It has been about a week and a half since the last hydration visit. Breakfast seems to be the best meal each day, and Penny has added a power shake to her breakfast routine. Her weight has drifted up and down in a range about 15-18 pounds below her July weight. So no big gains yet, but she’s holding steady without IV support.
• Last Monday Penny made a pie crust and crumble topping. I pealed and chopped the apples. Since then she’s been doing gradually more in the kitchen.
• Most days still include some down time to conserve energy or recover from activity. But it feels like the balance between active and resting is shifting gradually towards more activity.
So no big news. Just slow progress amidst daily ups and downs, and the occasional celebratory pie.
