Battery: Low

A week ago we were on our way to the ER because of a blood infection. Since coming home on Tuesday, things have been going pretty well. Pain and nausea have been mostly controlled. But energy levels remain low, and getting enough calories and fluids each day is a challenge.

Yesterday’s activity was a trip to the farmers market. It was a bit of a struggle to make it across the market and back, and the rest of the day was devoted to recovery. So the daily battery of energy starts pretty low and recharges slowly. Penny’s weight is still 12 -15 pounds below where it was in July, but it is no longer decreasing.

We’ll likely continue to go to the clinic for IV fluids once or twice a week to fend off dehydration and hope the strength and energy gradually improve. Until then, she has to make some choices about how to use limited energy reserves each day, which can be frustrating for someone who is used to getting lots done efficiently.

And hard, on her behalf, to hear of frustration at having to "pick and choose" one daily activity. Prayers for weight gain, hydration, more energy, continued patience.
