Yesterday we met with the palliative care team (nausea and pain) and this morning we had the first post-op check-in at the surgeon's office.  Everything is looking good, and the IV nutrition has been discontinued.  We're hoping Penny can eat and drink enough to stay off of the IV nutrition, but we'll continue to monitor things to make sure she's doing OK without that boost.  The next check-in with the surgeon's office is in three weeks.

Next Friday we meet with the oncologist to determine what the next steps are for resuming some sort of systemic treatment. It sounds like some sort of chemotherapy or immunotherapy is likely to begin soon after that.

In the meantime, we're seeing daily improvements both in terms of the ability to move around and in terms of eating.  Penny hasn't needed to use any meds for nausea or for break through pain since returning from the hospital -- both very good signs.  So the only med left right now is a low dose of fentanyl (via a patch on her arm), and we may be experimenting with dropping that soon as well.

All in all, it's been a good week.  Looking forward to an evening free of the IV pole.
