The first few days at home have gone well.
Signs of progress:
Penny is eating reasonably well (nearly normal amounts) and regaining her lost weight. (How much of this can be attributed to my cooking and how much to her general recovery is perhaps open to debate, but surpassing hospital food is a pretty low bar for me to achieve.)
I've been cleared (after two training sessions) to do the home IV nutrition hook up and disconnect, but we're hoping this will be a fairly brief routine.
No nausea, minimal abdominal pain, and only one bout of intestinal cramping since Friday.
She's able to move about the house without her walker (but doesn't stay on her feet too long at any one time).
We took our first trip to the end of the driveway yesterday to see the rain garden (which has grown a lot since surgery on July 11). We took the walker in case she needed to sit part way, but she didn't end up needing it.

Dave and Liz Sherry: Such good news, and agree that it sounds like Penny is making great progress. Continuing to pray for strength and healing!! Thanking God for His kindness!!!
Kerry Rowe: Way to go, Penny! Rain garden may need deer proofing, we saw 2 bucks there last night. We're offering an application of our homemade deer repellant sauce. (cayenne pepper, garlic, egg and dish soap). Let me know if you would like and i'll get on it!
Randall Pruim: Yes, please. We'll be in touch.
