If you mean Are we still in the hospital? then the answer is yes. If you mean Are we about ready to go home? then the answer is still no.
The last couple days have been a bit up and down. When she’s feeling her best, Penny gets a bit tired of the hospital routine, tries to find things to do, and looks forward to going home. In between, that’s less on her mind. (In our experience, by the time you are ready to go home, you are really ready to go home. Once you start consistently feeling good, a hospital is not where you want to be.)
The main issue at the moment is that she isn’t feeling well enough enough of the time to get enough nutrition and fluids. But they don’t want her to push too hard to eat either, because if she doesn’t feel like eating or can’t eat much, that probably means something isn’t quite ready yet.
She’s getting fluids this morning to fend off dehydration, and we’re going to give it a couple more days to see if we can get the nutrition up. If not, we will need to explore IV nutrition. We’ve done IV nutrition in the hospital before, but it sounds like they could send her home and do IV nutrition at home if other things are looking good.
So at this point, there is still no firm timeline for heading home. For now, we’ll just focus on getting a few bites of breakfast.
