But then things will start getting better.

That’s the word from Dr Assifi, who just stopped by. She seems pleased with how things are going so far, even if the first day after surgery isn’t the most fun.

This was Penny’s first chance to talk with Dr Assifi about how the surgery went, what was done, what couldn’t be done, etc.  We really like Dr Assifi, and it was a good conversation, even though the outcome wasn’t as good as we were all hoping for.

This morning’s adjustments to the meds seem to be helping control the pain a bit better.  Still hoping to try sitting in a chair this afternoon if all goes well.

Stacey Wieland: Holding you all in prayer

Mia Hunefeld: It’s good to see Penny awake and talking with her dr. Also glad for better pain control

Mike Borst: Glad the PCA is working better for Penny's pain. She's got lots of tubes! Reminds me of my days working in the ICU and IMCU... Say hi to Penny for me. Slow deep breaths!
